Your wedding day is an unforgettable moment in both yours and your partners life! Here at Eastwood Park Country House it is very important to us that you have the day you have always dreamed of.
Here are some of our top tips for run up to the special day and the day itself.
1. Don’t be afraid to ask.
All of us here at the country house put our couples and their needs first! Anything you are wondering, would like to change or add please just ask. Today is about you and your vision and the only way we can help is if you tell us. Our staff have many talents, however telepathy isn’t one (even though it would be very cool and very efficient)
2. Take everything one step at a time, it doesn’t all need to be done in one day.
A wedding is a massive event, even if it is just a day. A lot of time and work goes in to making this day one to remember forever. Do everything one by one and what we think is super helpful is, create a list in logical order. This helps keep everything in check.
3. Have a colour theme.
Pick a colour scheme that reflects who you are as a person, your style. Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns to catch peoples eyes. Use silk or velvet, floral decorations and lighting to enhance your colours and make your guests say “Wow!”
4. Be mindful of how much you’re doing at once.
Don’t take on too much at one time, the last thing you need on the lead up to your wedding is everything happening too fast and snowballing around you. The best tip we can give you is to make sure you have a wedding plan/planner and a wedding checklist! A few examples is, don’t book a band before you’re set on a venue, don’t plan your flowers before you have chosen a colour/theme and don’t hire vendors before you have confirmed a date.
5. Be realistic with your time .
Following nicely from tip no.4 is how to have a realistic timeline on the run-up to your wedding day. When it comes to the last few weeks before the big day, look at your list and remove three things. Not three major, important things but three tasks that aren’t the most important such as, hand-painting signs etc. Utilise these last weeks the best you can. It will help everything go to plan smoothly.
6. Set your budget from the beginning.
Sit down with your partner and have a candid conversation about what you want for your day but also what you CAN afford. Set that budget and as soon as you have done this you will be able to work out the rest; what type of venue you are looking for, how many people you can invite.
7. Meet your vendors in person.
It’s easy to look at a photographers page and fall in love with their photos or see a venue online which looks ideal to you, but we highly recommend physically meeting them. You need to be able to gel with your photographer and establish that communication. You need to see where you will be saying your ‘I do’s’ to check for anything that may be hidden/missed in online photos. The last thing you need or want on your wedding is something or someone that will throw the whole day off.
8. Do your research!
Look all over social media to find professionals you can contact and connect with so they understand your visions for the day. Local suppliers to you is probably the best idea due to cost however, don’t settle unless it’s exactly what you envisioned! Google “Wedding venues near me/ in a certain location” or “Rustic wedding venues” etc. Book as many viewings physically possible and compare every venue you see. Same goes for music, food, photographers, entertainment etc. Another good tip is to ask family and friends for any recommendations.
9. Trust your gut
Go with what you want. Not what you think you should do, or what your parents want you to do. It day is about you and your partner so go with your gut. Trust your gut with everything, the venue, the vendors and the budget. Only spend what feels right and important to you. There is always a way to save money so if a digit makes your stomach turn pause, before making any major decisions.
10. Enjoy the experience
Finally, our most important tip is to just enjoy the entire journey. From the planning to the saying ‘I do’. This is a once in a lifetime experience and the best thing you can do is love every step, twist and turn it takes you on.
